Welcome to my Blog!

Hello, thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.  Feel free to send me an email or leave a comment.

I have been practicing commercial photography in Denver since 1995.  Before moving to Colorado, I was working in the Detroit area.  Back in those days, the auto industry was doing pretty good and I got a lot of experience working for the big car studios but my wife and I wanted to try living out west.  We packed up our little cars and moved to the Denver area.  After living in a tent for a month, we found housing and our own niches in the photography world.  That seems like a long time ago, we now have two kids, a dog and a mortgage.

My passion in photography is creating images of people on location.  I love the fast paced challenge of going into different environments and making interesting portraits.  In contrast, I have also come love the slower pace of architectural photography.  There is a different set of challenges and it is more about planning and coming up with a clear strategy.

Thanks again for visiting, come back often and hopefully I will be faithful to the true spirit of the blog and have interesting images and words to share.  Cheers, Paul Wedlake

Battle of the Strands, Part 2

While shooting for the Battle of the Strands, I road tripped it from Las Vegas to the Valley of the Fire with the 2012 winning team.  The Glam Alliance was a lot of fun to photograph.  Even though I made them hike into the back country with high heels, they toughed it out.  We travels […]

A few months ago, I went out on the eastern plains with the purpose to just shoot some new images and have a little fun cruising down the endless dirt roads that see virtually no traffic. What I found was a lot of abandoned housed from the 40’s and 50’s. My friend Pat and I […]

Grain silos of the eastern plains of Colorado

I’ve spent a couple of days recently wandering the back roads of eastern Colorado lately with my friend Pat Loehr. Here’s a link to some of his images – Pat’s blog. Avoiding the traffic jams in the mountains, we decided to head east and take random dirt roads that go on forever and don’t seem […]

Bhumi – from the earth

I have been working with Kari Kisch for close to ten years now. She’s done makeup and styling on most of the people I have photographed. She’s also done production, talent scouting, wardrobe and on occasion held my reflector on windy days. She’s been a huge secret to my success while photographing executives. By the […]

Hello blog, I missed you!!!

Getting a few things in order here.  New website (still needs work) and I finally got my blog back online.  I thought it was gone.  I thought I would have to start all over.  Finally, my old internet provider revived it from a backup server.  Here’s a few fun images celebrating summer, kids and new […]
